Bishop’s Appeal

Thank you for shining your light so brightly as a member of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. This year, we are focusing on evangelism—sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with the world. Our entire diocese is brimming with energy, ready for 2021 to be a year of resurrection: a year of joy, of hope, and of new life being brought forth from the grave. Join me in donating to the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego that we might share our hope with the world!

It is because of you.

Because of you, we can carry out the Church’s mission—striving to restore all people to unity with God and one another. Your gift makes diocesan ministries possible; supporting families during the pandemic, providing congregational development, assisting with clergy health and wellness, developing our companion relationship with the Diocese of Western Mexico, and other services and programs that a single congregation could not do on their own.

Because of you, the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego is a leader—stepping forward into areas of advocacy, racial reconciliation, and creation care. Dozens of groups are now participating in Sacred Ground training—striving toward racial reconciliation and a greater understanding of one other. Our diocese is one of the first to offer all our churches financing for solar panels. EDSD is working hard to be responsible
stewards of this beautiful planet. Thanks to you.

Thanks to your generosity EDSD continues to be a leader in our neighborhoods.

Recently, a local organization approached the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego to help those in the most profound need—hundreds of unaccompanied migrant teenagers housed at the San Diego Convention Center needed pastoral care. EDSD quickly gathered a coalition of denominations to provide these young people with church services. Jesus commanded us to love our neighbors as ourselves, and these are God’s beloved children who will be our neighbors for a short time. Caring for them answers God’s commandment to love others. We are glad to add their spiritual care to the many other ways our churches help those in need in the greater San Diego area.

As we emerge from the pandemic, many congregations will find that they are suffering financially, yet there are more people than ever who need to hear the good news of Christ through our worshiping communities. Your gift helps us support our congregations as they realign themselves for new mission.

For growth and stability.

The Bishop’s Appeal helps congregations with discipleship, education and formation for people of all ages, church leadership training, stewardship and planned giving support, communications and website support, misconduct prevention training, property management and risk management. These are just a few of the ways the bishop’s office partners with congregations, providing ministries and services not
available at the congregational level.

Your generosity means so much to people in need. Your gift supports congregations who right now work overtime to comfort the broken, feed the hungry, and proclaim he good news of Jesus Christ to our neighborhoods and beyond.

You are the light of the world! Please join me in contributing today.

In Christ,
The Rt. Rev. Susan Brown Snook
