The Bishop’s Appeal: You are the light of the world!
December 6, 2019
Dear Friends in Christ,
I wish you a blessed Advent season as we journey toward the peace and light of Christmas. Through the Bishop’s Appeal last year, we were able to engage God’s mission to promote reconciliation, justice and love in the world around us.
This year we celebrate with St. Luke’s, North Park and the Bakala family. A mission congregation, St. Luke’s snapped into action when one of their members, Constantin Bakala (pictured) was separated from his family for 22 months. They mobilized hundreds of volunteers to write letters, call ICE officials, demonstrate and advocate for his parole in San Diego. After four months, they prevailed. The Bakala family is together this Christmas because of people like you, people who give out of the plenty God has given them, to help all our congregations be beacons of light in a darkened world.
As the body of Christ, we are part of a mystical union bringing light into the world’s darkness.
Your generosity at this time of year mean that together, we can be light in a dark world, serving people and communities in need.
Please join me in shining a light by making a gift online today.
The Rt. Rev. Susan Brown Snook
P.S. Many are struggling in the darkness. Thank you for responding before the end of the year!
