Volunteer

for Vacation Bible School 2020

< Back to VBS 2020

Thank you for your interesting in helping to make Vacation Bible School 2020 happen! Below are the areas where volunteers can help out, and beneath them is the form to fill out your interest. For questions, comments, compliments, or candy, contact Greg Tuttle (gtuttle@stdunstans.org).

Welcome and Opening Prayer

Using the daily scripture as inspiration, this section is between 2-3 minutes and includes an enthusiastic greeting, a brief introduction to the theme of the day, then a prayer, freeform or prepared, to begin the session.

Scripture

This can be whatever you need it to be in order to share the story of the day. From hand puppets to a fireside arm chair to beach blanket story time this segment is the meat of our program and the greatest opportunity that we have to share the love of Jesus with out viewers. Let your creativity soar! Once you’ve shared the story, please offer a brief reflection on the scripture with a focused takeaway that’s simple for our students to digest.

Skits

What VBS would be complete without great skits. This one has several that are great chances for our middle and high school students, who would otherwise serve as guides in a traditional summer, to share their gifts. These will be recorded using Zoom and led by an adult who can guide the recording process. These skits can be goofy while being poignant parts of the teaching process for our viewers.

Science Acitivity

We are blessed to be a diocese of educators and this is a segment for them to shine. Prepared by a local science teacher, these simple science activities have been followed using household items. This 3-5 minute segment is a time for our local educators to soar or youth volunteers to bring their gifts with parent supervision, of course.

Wrap-up with Closing Prayer

Using this time to bring the theme of the day back into the spotlight. This 2-3 minute segment is a chance to leave the viewers with an enthusiastic and positive message about what they’ve learned and a taste of next week’s theme. Closing in prayer we round out the episode as we began, welcoming God into our lives and asking for God’s presence throughout the week.

Off-Camera Volunteers

A bold project like this requires a whole lot of video editing and we would love help doing so. Whether you’re a pro sitting in front of Premiere on a curved monitor in a padded studio, a purist using ¾” decks, or a beginner using iMovie you are welcome here! Please email our producer, Greg (gtuttle@stdunstans.org), to explore how your gifts can serve.
