New Archdeacon and School for Ministry Rector
I am very glad to welcome the Rev. Pam Rieger to our diocesan staff. She serves as archdeacon, coordinating the ministries of our community of deacons, as well as rector and chaplain of our School for Ministry and coordinator of our lay licensing programs. In addition to her work at St. Dunstan’s, San Diego, Deacon Pam coordinates the ministries of the Right Here and Right Now Church in Ocean Beach that meets at the Episcopal Church Center on Wednesday evenings. She has been instrumental in building community among our vocational deacons and will be a wonderful leader to support them in their work.
The Rev. Pam Rieger was ordained a vocational deacon in 2015. She most recently served on staff at St. Dunstan’s, San Diego where she managed pastoral care, preaches, and supports the work of the congregation. She was co-chair of the bishop nominating committee, and a member of the executive council since 2016. A mother of three and grandmother of three, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors and a good mystery novel, now and then.
Archdeacon Pam also serves as the rector of the School for Ministry (SFM). As a graduate of its inaugural class, she has first-hand knowledge of the role the SFM has played in the formation of deacons and priests in our diocese. Our new archdeacon has served as the chaplain of the SFM for the past three years and will continue to do so. She brings wisdom and experience to the role of rector, and a deep appreciation for the ordination discernment process.
As the archdeacon, Pam is the chief pastor for all diocesan deacons. If you have any questions about diaconal ministry, please
contact her.
