La Palma Litany

In faith, hope, and love, we come together in the Spirit of God, for the purpose of strengthening solidarity between the people of El Salvador and North America, saying, “Jesus Christ Liberator, hear our prayer.”

Let us pray for mutual transformation, that our hearts and minds may be turned to partnership with God and one another, that we might be led to courageous action wherever God has placed us.

Jesus Christ Liberator, hear our prayer.

Let us pray that we may be defenders of the rights of all people, maintaining a special preference for the poor, the weak, and the marginalized, and promoting the development of all human beings.

Jesus Christ Liberator, hear our prayer.

Let us pray with thanksgiving for the Latin American spirit of grassroots reflection upon the gospel, for the Most Rev. Martin Barahona, Bishop of the Anglican/Episcopal Church of El Salvador, and for the mission of Foundation Cristosal.

Especially, we pray for….

Jesus Christ Liberator, hear our prayer.

Let us pray for all who offer themselves for the sake of the gospel, that with Monseñor Oscar Romero, and those who have gone unnamed, we may be inspired by a spirit of sacrifice to walk the narrow and dusty road that leads to life.

Jesus Christ Liberator, hear our prayer.

Let us pray that our consciousness may be deepened, that we may find the depth of our humanity, that God may lead us to our true and distinctive vocation, and that we may yearn as God yearns for a reign of peace with justice.

Jesus Christ Liberator, hear our prayer.
