Fifteen young members of our diocese with the children of a rural Guatemalan village called Ixtacapa (eesh-ta-ca-pa). This June, our youth spent a week building two houses of cinderblock and stucco. They dug trenches, mixed concrete, heaved an enormous boulder out of a stream, applied stucco, and poured a concrete floor. They also made memories to last a lifetime. In Ixtacapa, $1.90 supports a family of eight. Despite this, the community has come together to open a tutoring center. Our youth raised funds for computers, WiFi and a printer by hosting a dinner for the diocese on August 11. They plan to foster the relationships they built through future trips.
