Our diocesan task force on compassionate care for misconduct survivors commends the following litany for use on Ash Wednesday in response to Presiding Bishop Curry’s charge to examine our role in the #MeToo phenomenon. It is, essentially, the traditional Ash Wednesday Litany, with several additional calls and responses to address the issue of sexual misconduct in the church.
The task force is concerned that survivors, having heard of or read the presiding bishop and president of the house of deputy’s statement, not come to an Episcopal Church on Ash Wednesday, thinking they will hear or see something addressing this issue, and instead encounter business as usual.
