High School Mission Trip
Forty-four youth and adults from parishes around the diocese are preparing for a week-long mission trip with Sierra Service Project (SSP). Youth from Christ Church, Coronado; St. Peter’s, Del Mar; St. Bartholomew’s, Poway; Trinity, Escondido; St. Paul’s Cathedral, San Diego; and St. James, La Jolla are headed to Navajo Nation in northeastern Arizona. While there, they will enjoy a week of relationship-building, service, education, and worship through the physical transformation of homes and community service organizations.
The group departs on Saturday, July 26, for an overnight at Chapel Rock Episcopal Camp and Conference Center in Prescott. They return to San Diego on Saturday, August 2.
Days are spent at work, building wheelchair ramps, painting, doing light construction, etc. Evenings are spent in intentional conversation with Navajo teachers, residents, police, and clergy, reflection and team-building.
