Join churches throughout the diocese on July 15 at the San Diego Pride Parade! All are welcome to walk the parade route with St. Paul’s Cathedral contingent. Parade walkers need to be at the Cathedral in the 6th Ave Courtyard by 9:00 am. The Parade starts at 10:00 am. The group will gather at the Cathedral and then walk up to the staging area on Normal Street, which takes about 20 mins.
You will be joining over 300,000 parade goers for some sun, a 1.5-mile walk, waving flags, lively music, and a wonderful community.
Parking will be available at the Cathedral (525 Olive), and at St. Paul’s Senior Services at 3rd and Maple.
No banners are allowed, only flags and streamers.
Be advised: Driving and looking for parking near the staging area (within a couple of miles) is very difficult and almost impossible. So, Uber or have someone drop you off, but do not try to find parking anywhere in Hillcrest that morning. Wear sunscreen, comfy shoes, we will have water on the trolley. The parade staging area is at the DMV on Normal Street.
There is limited space on the trolley for those who are walking impaired. Please reach out to Susan Jester for more information at jesters@stpaulcathedral.org
Youth at Pride – July 15 – 10am-1pm – We will meet at the St. Paul’s parade staging area (tbd) to be a visible presence of God’s love during the San Diego Pride Parade. We will have temporary tattoos, You are LOVED stickers, and lollipops for students to hand out. Youth should wear their rainbow finest and either a youth ministry t-shirt or a t-shirt from your parish. Youth will need transportation to and from this event but can walk with the group during the parade if the parent is not attending.
