Interfaith Press Conference: Mayor Faulconer to Welcome First Woman as Bishop
June 13 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am
“San Diego has women in leadership roles throughout the city who are striving to make a difference every day,” said Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer. “It is an honor to welcome the first woman bishop – elected with overwhelming support by her peers – to head the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. Bishop-Elect Susan’s vision for diversity, youth investment and community will be a great addition to San Diego’s clergy.”
Members of the media are welcome to attend a press conference on Thursday, June 13 at 10:30 a.m. The Honorable Kevin Faulconer, and his wife, Katharine Stuart Falconer, will welcome the Rev. Canon Susan Brown Snook, as the first woman bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. She will speak about being elected and her hopes for the future. The Rt. Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori, first female presiding bishop of the entire Episcopal Church, will also speak about women in traditionally male leadership roles. Other speakers include: Imam Taha Hassane, cleric at the Islamic Center of San Diego, and Rabbi Aliza Berk, a healing rabbi at Jewish Family Service.
Please RSVP by June 12 at 4 p.m. to Hannah Wilder.
