EDSD Youth Collaborative is a collective of San Diego area parishes invested in youth ministry. We use our common resources to serve youth and family throughout the diocese. We meet quarterly to plan, collaborate, share events and resources, and provide support to those involved in youth ministry. Collaborative events include mission trips, convention, youth retreats, service opportunities, and various other activities including Nightwatch, Taize, and EYE.
The last meeting of 2016 will be held during the Youth Leadership Retreat at Camp Stevens on October 29 & 30. Our first meeting of 2017 will be on January 21st at St. Peter’s in Del Mar.
If you are interested in joining the Youth Collaborative and are currently involved in youth ministry, you are welcome to join us. To be added to the mailing list, or for more information about the Youth Collaborative, please contact Charlette Preslar.
A Happening is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It encourages particpation in one’s own congregation and youth group.
- Is Christianity relevant to youth today?
- Can in penetrate the many areas of school life?
- Can it transform the world and keep up with changing times?
The Happening movement thinks so. It does not propose a new type of spirituality, but provides a method through which one’s spirituality may develop, grow and link to other young Christians. The Happening movement thinks that Jesus Christ will continue to make a difference in the world and in individual lives. Those who attend listen to thought-provoking talks given by members of the staff, clergy, and the teens themselves. After each talk there is time for reflection, questions and small group discussion.
The Happening movement is a powerful instrument of renewal in the Church. Its purpose is to concentrate closely on the person and teaching of Jesus Christ. Teens examine our faith in a relaxed, fun, informal, loving atmosphere.
