SUMMARY:Project Resource - Fall 2022
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to introduce Project Resource to you as an opportunity to engage your diocese in the ministry of stewardship this fall!\nThere has never been a more important time to engage in the ministry of Stewardship in the Church. \nSundays\, September 11 through October 9\, Online via Zoom\, 4:00 to 6:00 pm CT \nProject Resource teaches culture and systems change around financial development in the worldwide Episcopal Church.\nProject Resource provides teaching\, focus\, and adaptable resources to equip clergy and lay leaders to develop their year-round\nannual stewardship campaigns and plan\, ask for\, and receive major gifts. \nProject Resource:\n• helps church teams to gather the best resources to transform all areas of stewardship and explore internal\nnarratives of money while addressing societal shifts\, organizational change\, and leadership challenges.\n• assists teams in interpreting the training curriculum\, session by session\, relative to their cultural and regional\ncontext.\n• empowers participants to leave the conference with a working plan and measurable objectives tailored\nspecifically for their own congregation. \nChurch Teams:\nProject Resource trainings equip stewardship teams to plan and develop year-round stewardship ministries that can be\nreplicated and adapted for years to come. An ideal church team would consist of at least 3 members including the\nclergyperson\, stewardship ministry chair\, and other committed lay leaders. \nChurch Teams will complete the course with:\n• A year-round stewardship calendar\n• A step-by-step plan for implementing a 2022 fall annual campaign\n• Hands-on training on how to make personal invitations\n• Understanding generational and individual donor motivations\n• Cultural and technological strategies in light of the pandemic \nFor more information\, cost details\, and to register\, please visit https://project-resource.org/fall2022.\nClick HERE to download the flyer for this event.

SUMMARY:The Creation Care Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin
DESCRIPTION:“This fragile earth\, our island home.”\nJoin us each Wednesday in September from 6:30 – 8:00 PM\nSeptember 7th\n“Inspiring Climate Action”\n(video presentation by Dr. Katharine Hayhoe)\nPresenter: Kim Leslie\nThis session opens with a March 2022 keynote address by Climate Scientist Dr. Katharine Hayhoe. Our discussion will include Katharine’s suggestions for what churches can do to reduce their carbon footprint\, as well as resource suggestions from the Creation Care Commission.\n(DioSanJoaquin.org/creationcare) \nSeptember 14th\n“Don’t Poison the Well”\nPresenters: Deacon Teri Van Huss\, Chuck Schaeffer\nWater conservation includes using less water\, as well as what we put into the water as it goes down the drain\, into the earth and our groundwater. We will discuss how to create chemical-free homes\, ways to use grey water\, and give an update on California’s efforts to regulate groundwater. \nSeptember 21th\n“Plastic pollution is worse than you think”\nPresenters: Presenters: Beryl Simkins\, Suzanne Harvey\nCalifornia just took a big step in leading the push to lessen the impact of plastics on people and the environment. Most of us know that plastic\, especially singe-use plastic is a problem; unfortunately\, recycling does little to reduce plastic pollution. \nSeptember 28th\n“Cover the Ground” & “Talking about Climate Change”\nPresenters: Xan Adams\, Deacon Teri Van Huss\nBare earth is naked\, hungry\, and running a fever. Mulches and compost create healthy soil and provide cover (shade) to keep water from evaporating quickly. We need to replace luscious green water soaked lawns in ways that are beautiful and still keep the ground covered. \nZoom Info Here \nClick HERE to download this flyer. \n

SUMMARY:Introduction to Community Engagement
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nCommunity engagement is a strategic process of involvement in a particular social group or geographic context (i.e.\, town\, neighborhood\, city block) with the purpose of understanding and improving the community’s well-being. \nWhen asked what the greatest command was\, Jesus said that it was to love God with every fiber of our being but that the second greatest command was of equal importance—to care for our neighbors\, in the same way\, we care for ourselves (Matthew 22:37). As congregations\, we are called to do the same and the practices of community engagement can help.  \nWe are called to love our neighbors. We can’t love our neighbors in meaningful and relevant ways if we don’t know them. This community engagement process will allow you to get to know\, listen to\, and learn from your neighbors. \nJoin us for an introductory webinar on the community engagement cohort starting this September. There is no cost for materials or participation. More information is available here. \n  \nREGISTER
