Mulches and compost create healthy soil and provide cover (shade) to keep water from evaporating quickly. DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nCommunity engagement is a strategic process of involvement in a particular social group or geographic context (i.e.\, town\, neighborhood\, city block) with the purpose of understanding and improving the community’s well-being. \nWhen asked what the greatest command was\, Jesus said that it was to love God with every fiber of our being but that the second greatest command was of equal importance—to care for our neighbors\, in the same way\, we care for ourselves (Matthew 22:37). As congregations\, we are called to do the same and the practices of community engagement can help.  \nWe are called to love our neighbors. We can’t love our neighbors in meaningful and relevant ways if we don’t know them. Join other Episcopalians who want to get the church involved in the issues facing our world today. Share how you do it at your church\, learn how others are doing it\, troubleshoot problems\, pool resources and collaborate on projects larger than your one church. This six-unit virtual discussion group is open to  youth grades 7-12 willing to engage in tough conversations to deepen their understanding of racism\, identity\, privilege\, and healing as part of the life-long work of dismantling racism. \nThis six week series will be held virtually. Youth participants are expected to attend all six sessions. The work is important. The conversation is important. Your commitment to the program is important! \nThere will be an initial parent/youth meeting on Sunday\, July 5th at 3:00 p.m. Additional meetings will be held on Tuesday afternoons at 3pm and are for youth participants. Those meetings are scheduled for July 7\, 14\, 21\, 28 and August 4\, and 11.The youth of this program are laying the ground work for future groups and will develop important leadership and communication skills as part of the journey. \n\nAll available spots for this workshop have been filled.
