DESCRIPTION:LARK (Localized Anti-Racism Knowledge) began as a challenge from Bishop Susan Brown Snook. In February 2022 she asked the Racial Justice and Reconciliation Task Force (RJRTF) to develop a localized anti-racism workshop. Since anti-racism trainings are usually designed in other regions of the country\, they reflect their populations and histories. Our area has its own history\, issues\, and stories. LARK focuses on our local history and populations and deals with local issues and stories. The workshop includes practical tools and approaches for advancing racial reconciliation and justice within our diocese. \nLARK is one part of a lifelong journey for racial reconciliation and racial justice. Whether you are a novice or veteran in the areas of racial justice and reconciliation\, whether you are a Sacred Ground alum\, current Sacred Ground participant\, or have never even heard of Sacred Ground\, this LARK workshop is for you! DESCRIPTION:“All this is from God\, who reconciled us to himself through Christ\, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.”  ~ II Corinthians 5:18 \nThis workshop will help you understand . . . \n\nThat conflict need not be bad\, but is an opportunity for growth.\nThe Biblical basis for conflict transformation.\nYour own style of responding to conflict.\nThe communication skills necessary to resolve conflict peacefully.\nStrategies for preventing destructive conflict in the church family.\nA model for working at congregational decision-making in a win-win manner.\n\nThe workshop is designed for: \n\nChurch leaders\, clergy\, lay leaders.\nAnyone interested in improving their ability to handle conflict effectively\, whether in the church\, the home\, the workplace\, or the community.\n\n  \nRichard Blackburn is executive director of Lombard Mennonite Peace Center (LMPC) in Lombard\, IL. Richard is a trainer and mediator\, with broad experience in serving as a consultant to conflicted churches. DESCRIPTION:No one’s plans for the end of life will be exactly the same\, but one thing is for certain: if you don’t plan\, someone else will decide for you. From reviewing medical care if you are incapacitated\, to how you wish be remembered by your loved ones\, and planning your estate\, take the time now to decide on your end-of-life wishes. Please join Jim Murphy for this useful and informative workshop\, free of charge. The same content will be repeated at both events. \nThe event is free of charge\, but we do need you to RSVP for materials preparation. \nRegister\nAbout Our Presenter\n \nJames W.N. Murphy\, CFRE\nManaging Program Director \nJim Murphy is Managing Program Director of Financial Resources at the Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF).  He oversees ECF’s Financial Resource development programs and resources\, including planned giving\, donor solutions and endowment management. He leads workshops and works with congregations\, dioceses\, and other Episcopal organizations to enhance and develop their programs and resources. \nPrior to joining ECF in 2008\, Jim was Director of the Master of Arts Program and Program Manager for Lifelong Learning & the Center for Christian Spirituality at the General Theological Seminary.  For more than 16 years he worked for a major international law firm in NYC\, serving in a number of financial management roles.  He has been an active volunteer leader in stewardship\, parish administration\, and Christian formation ministries in several Episcopal parishes in New York and New Jersey. \nA native of Lansing\, Michigan\, Jim holds a Certificate in Fundraising from New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies\, an MA in Christian Spirituality from the General Theological Seminary\, and a BS from NYU’s Stern School of Business. Jim is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE). \nRegister Here
