DESCRIPTION:Border Ministries Summit sponsored by the Episcopal Diocese of the Rio Grande \nThe summit will include: \n\na keynote address by the Rt. Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori\nspeakers from the Episcopal Church and secular agencies that work along the border\nopportunities for border immersion experiences\n\nThe 2\,000 miles of border between the US and Mexico is an area of heightened social\, political and spiritual importance. Along the border\, cultures\, economies and families meet and are divided. The border offers the Church an unique opportunity for ministry\, and dioceses along the border have each responded. This summit will provide opportunities to share information about border ministries and to build partnerships for future ministries and increase awareness of border issues. \nThe six dioceses who share the border will share their experiences of ministry. Some think it’s impossible because they don’t speak Spanish. Come to the New Camino seminar. Led by the Rev. Anthony Guillén\, Episcopal Church officer for Latinx ministries\, this seminar explores the changing face\, cultural backgrounds\, interests and needs of Latino/a communities\, and how to welcome\, serve and involve such communities in congregational life. \nCome learn how Latinx ministry has changed from the old\, bifurcated Spanish only/English only model. \nClergy members\, vestry\, bishop’s committee\, and lay leaders who want a growing and vital church will join us at New Camino. \nWe encourage teams of at least three people from each congregation. \nThis event is a joint effort of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego\, and the Episcopal Church. \n  \nRegister Here
