SUMMARY:Sharing God's Good News
DESCRIPTION:Sharing God’s Good News\nSharing God’s Good News is a not-so-basic training designed to introduce a fresh\, humble\, effective and Episcopal approach to the spiritual practice of evangelism.  Attendees will also be sent a Participant Guide + Handouts that include a host of resources for sharing the Jesus Movement\, redefining evangelism\, organizing a revival\, sharing our stories\, walking the neighborhood\, improving hospitality\, and more. Also\, you will be given a preview of Embracing Evangelism\, a training that any congregation can host on their own. \nREGISTER\n  \nSaturday Schedule: Sep 17\, 2022\n9:00 am – Morning Prayer (30 min)\n9:30 am – Welcome (10 mins)\n9:40 am – God’s Good News (2 1/2 hours (short break included\, along with lots of group exercises)\n12:10 pm – Lunch\n1:10 pm – Breakout Workshops (workshop options listed in registration below)\n \nREGISTER\n  \nMeet the Trainer\nJerusalem Greer is the Staff Officer for Evangelism for The Episcopal Church in the Office of Presiding Bishop Michael B. Curry. She serves on the Council of Advice for Episcopal Relief & Development and on the board of Edible Theology\, an educational ministry connecting the Communion table to tables we eat at every day. In addition to her work for The Episcopal Church\, she is also a speaker\, preacher\, podcast host (Spade\, Spoon\, Soul)\, and the author of At Home in this Life: Finding Peace at the Crossroads of Unraveled Dreams and Beautiful Surprises\, and A Homemade Year: The Blessings of Cooking\, Crafting and Coming Together\, as well as several faith-based curricula. She makes her home in Greenbrier\, Arkansas on a hobby farm\, with her husband Nathan\, and their sons\, Miles (age 17)\, and Wylie (age 21\, Lyon ’22). \n

SUMMARY:Setting Up a Planned Giving Program for Your Parish
DESCRIPTION:Workshop: Setting Up a Planned Giving Program for Your Parish\n\nTake the mystery out of planned giving for your parish.  Learn in easy-to-understand terms how planned giving differs from annual stewardship and capital campaigns\, and how your parish can build endowments through estate allocations\, life income\, and other gifts.  After a review of the planned giving instruments\, you will learn about the importance of a parish vision\, protecting and growing your endowment\, and how to invite others to remember your parish through estate and financial planning.  You will leave the workshop with a plan of action. \n\nLocation: We will meet in the Cathedral’s new building at 525 Olive Street in the Guild Room.\nParking: Limited onsite parking is available at 525 Olive Street between 5th and 6th\, metered street parking\, and free parking in Balboa Park accessible at 6th and Upas.\nGetting to the Guild Room: From parking underground\, take the elevator to 1 and exit the lobby. The Guild Room will be to the left\, connected by a glass door. From the street\, 5th Avenue has a gate between the Great Hall (Old Building) and 525 Olive (New Building). Head down the ramp and you will end up at the Guild Room.\nBreaks: We will take a break from approximately 10:20 to 10:30am. For break amenities\, there are three bathrooms and a water bottle fountain\, plus refreshments in the pre-function area.\nFood & Beverages: Light refreshments will be provided.\nMaterials: Printed materials from ECF will be available as well as pen and paper for note-taking.\nMasking: Masks are highly encouraged. Our presenter\, James Murphy will not be masked while presenting\, though he will be physically distanced from the group. When speaking one-on-one with participants\, he will be masked. Those who are uncomfortable demasking for food or drink are welcome to use the Dean’s Courtyard\, immediately outside the Guild Room.\nOnline Participation: Contact Canon Jason Evans at jevans@edsd.org.\n\nThis workshop will be led by James Murphy\, Program Director for Endowment Management\, Planned Giving and Donor Solutions at the Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF). Jim is Managing Program Director for Endowment Management\, Planned Giving and Donor Solutions at the Episcopal Church Foundation (ECF). He oversees ECF’s financial resources programs: planned giving\, endowment management and donor solutions\, including ECF’s Donor-advised Fund program. He works with congregations\, dioceses\, and other Episcopal organizations to enhance and develop their programs and resources. Jim holds a Certificate in Fundraising from New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies\, MA in Christian Spirituality from General Theological Seminary\, and BS from NYU’s Stern School of Business.
