Fearless Love Grants Awarded

For the third year running, the diocese has awarded Fearless Love Grants to parishes working to spread the good news in new and creative ways  Thanks to the delegates at our 40th Annual Diocesan Convention who voted “yes,” the total funds available for grants increased from $5,000 to $20,000 for the year 2014.

This year, 17 grant requests were submitted from around the diocese totaling over $70,000. The Fearless Love Grants Committee is pleased to announce the following recipients and amounts awarded for innovative and, we pray, far-reaching success:

  • Holy Cross, Carlsbad: Dorcas House mentoring $800
  • St Mark’s, City Heights: After-school music program for children and youth $2,355
  • St. Andrew’s, Encinitas: Dinners for Local VBS Families $400
  • St. John’s, Fallbrook: GANAS Teen Mentoring Program $1,400
  • St. Mark’s, City Heights: Mom and Tot Refugee Play Group Program $2,085
  • St. Thomas, Temecula: Wounded Warrior Ministry, Camp Pendleton $2,400
  • St. Bartholomew’s: Laptop Desks for Children of Working Poor Families $2,560
  • St. John’s, Indio: Health Fairs for Disenfranchised (food, medical testing, Medicare registration, medical clinic) $4,000
  • St Alban’s, El Cajon: Welcome Church Expansion to be a Needs-Based Provider $4,000
  • St. Anthony-of-the-Desert received a fearless love grant of $ 1,500. From that amount $1,300.00 will be for Outreach to at-risk school students Program and $200.00 for Outreach to Seasonal Residents Program.
