Clergy Conference and Retreat

September 28th at 3:30pm through September 30th at Noon via Zoom

Cost: Free with optional donation to “For Such a Time as This” fund.

Deadline: Please register by September 20th

This year’s conference is all online, but the Clergy Enrichment Committee invites you to clear your calendar completely during our scheduled time in order to fully participate and find renewal for your heart, mind and body. We will offer presentations, discussions, free time, and games, along with worship and some time with our bishop.

Presenter: The Very Rev. Dr. Cynthia Briggs Kittredge, Dean and President, Seminary of the Southwest.

When the World Falls Apart: Apocalyptic Texts for our Times
We are excited to offer several presentations from the Dean and President of Seminary of the Southwest, The Very Rev. Dr. Cynthia Briggs Kittredge, on the apocalyptic texts we encounter in late Pentecost and Advent which speak to our present chaotic and tumultuous moment. Where do we find hope as preachers, congregational leaders, and human beings who are trying to live faithfully while the world is seemingly falling apart?

This year we also invite everyone to be apart of a small group or “pod of clergy colleagues” of three or so people with whom to discuss, pray, eat, and engage with during the conference. It will be up to each pod whether to meet online, by phone, or outdoors in a socially distanced/masked/safe way.

There will also be free time on Tuesday afternoon for outdoor activities, prayer, and meditation as well as an optional “Embodied Practice” session at 5pm on Tuesday for those who would like to offer or participate in yoga and/or body-movement prayer online. And of course we will have daily online worship as well as online fellowship and games offered each evening.

Please note that clergy engaged in active ministry in the Diocese of San Diego (whether canonically resident or licensed) are expected to attend the conference; please contact Bishop Susan if you cannot attend. Retired clergy and those who are canonically resident here but active in ministry elsewhere are invited, but not required, to attend.

We look forward to our time together and pray it will be a time of blessing and renewal for each one of us during this difficult season.
