DESCRIPTION:St. Mark’s is so blessed to be able to have a 2019 Back 2 School Bash.  We know we would not have made it to our 8th Annual without your generous support throughout the years.  Be it financial\, backpacks\, volunteers to put the supplies together or volunteers to work the day of the event\, we cannot thank  you enough. \nAt this annual event\, underserved children receive brand new backpacks stuffed with new school supplies\, new shoes\, new socks and the message that they are loved and supported in their educational endeavor. Kids also receive haircuts (we need hair dressers!). Families can take family portraits with the help of volunteer photographers. Crafts\, games and activities for kids will take place. Snacks for all. \nWe still need volunteers!\nIf you can work a shift contact Debbie Kistler ASAP. \nThe shifts are: \n\nAll day – 8:30 a.mm to 1:00 p.m.\nShift 1 – 8:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.\nShift 2 – 11:00 a.m. to 2 :00 p.m.\n\nAny help you can provide will be welcome and appreciated but Shift 2 help is most needed. SUMMARY:HR Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:Come learn how our churches can comply with the new California state requirements to provide sexual harassment prevention training to all employees before January 1\, 2020.  These courses were developed by Praesidum who developed and manages our Safeguarding God’s People program.  There are two versions: one for Preventing Sexual Harassment for Employees in California and one for Sexual Harassment Training for Supervisory Employees in California.  Each course is one hour in length. The two courses are designed to work together\, and supervisors are expected to take both in order to meet the 2 hour requirement.  They cover all elements required by the new law. \nWe will also roll out our new preschool employee handbook template designed to be consistent with diocesan compensation and benefits policies. \nRemaining time will be spent on going deeper into hiring\, termination\, safety\, training  and performance management practices. \nClick the below to register for this event.\nRegister

DESCRIPTION:Urban Immersion\nAugust 4-10\, 2019\nYouth entering Grades 7-9 \n* Registration for this trip is limited to 20 youth. \nCost $500 \nThis year’s Urban Immersion trip will be hosted by Sierra Service Project – San Diego. We will be staying and serving in Imperial Beach. Youth will focus on poverty\, immigration\, and the environment. There will be the opportunity to ask questions and broaden our world view. \nSSP does half of their work with homeowners\, and half with community-based organizations. The type of work includes painting\, rebuilding fences\, and other general home repairs. No construction experience is needed\, and you’ll be amazed at all the work our teams complete! Since we will be the final program week\, we anticipate having the opportunity to finish many of the projects that are started over the summer. \nRegistration for this trip is limited to 20 youth. Once the trip is full\, we will begin a fundraising effort. This summer’s diocesan youth mission trip will be with the Diocese of Western Mexico. During the nine days that we are in Mexico we will have the opportunity to complete several construction projects aiding the Pame\, an indigenous people living in the mountains outside of San Luis Potosi. We will also run a children’s program in Guadalajara with the youth of the diocese of Western Mexico. This will be a deeply cultural and transforming trip. We are being hosted by Bishop Gomez Osnaya and he will travel with us the entire time. Make no mistake though\, this is a service trip. Schedule is still yet to be determined\, but we do know that the parade will step off an hour earlier than previous years due to the expected attendance.
