DESCRIPTION:REGISTER \nCommunity engagement is a strategic process of involvement in a particular social group or geographic context (i.e.\, town\, neighborhood\, city block) with the purpose of understanding and improving the community’s well-being. \nWhen asked what the greatest command was\, Jesus said that it was to love God with every fiber of our being but that the second greatest command was of equal importance—to care for our neighbors\, in the same way\, we care for ourselves (Matthew 22:37). As congregations\, we are called to do the same and the practices of community engagement can help.  \nWe are called to love our neighbors. We can’t love our neighbors in meaningful and relevant ways if we don’t know them. This community engagement process will allow you to get to know\, listen to\, and learn from your neighbors. \nJoin us for an introductory webinar on the community engagement cohort starting this September. DESCRIPTION:Godly Play Training\nThe Episcopal Diocese of San Diego in partnership with Christ Church Coronado is pleased to offer a Godly Play Core Training Retreat August 19-21\, 2022. Over the course of the retreat\, participants will experience all aspects of the Godly Play method and begin to become fluent in the Godly Play core stories and fundamental practices. Additionally\, Godly Play’s guiding Theology of Childhood is introduced\, so participants become more deeply connected to their work. The circle of participants becomes very strong and trustworthy when this work is done in the closed environment of a several-day retreat\, and participants enjoy spiritual renewal and lasting friendships. DESCRIPTION:Workshop: Setting Up a Planned Giving Program for Your Parish\n\nTake the mystery out of planned giving for your parish.  Learn in easy-to-understand terms how planned giving differs from annual stewardship and capital campaigns\, and how your parish can build endowments through estate allocations\, life income\, and other gifts.  After a review of the planned giving instruments\, you will learn about the importance of a parish vision\, protecting and growing your endowment\, and how to invite others to remember your parish through estate and financial planning.  You will leave the workshop with a plan of action. \n\nLocation: We will meet in the Cathedral’s new building at 525 Olive Street in the Guild Room.\nParking: Limited onsite parking is available at 525 Olive Street between 5th and 6th\, metered street parking\, and free parking in Balboa Park accessible at 6th and Upas.\nGetting to the Guild Room: From parking underground\, take the elevator to 1 and exit the lobby. The Guild Room will be to the left\, connected by a glass door. From the street\, 5th Avenue has a gate between the Great Hall (Old Building) and 525 Olive (New Building). Head down the ramp and you will end up at the Guild Room.\nBreaks: We will take a break from approximately 10:20 to 10:30am. For break amenities\, there are three bathrooms and a water bottle fountain\, plus refreshments in the pre-function area.\nFood & Beverages: Light refreshments will be provided.\nMaterials: Printed materials from ECF will be available as well as pen and paper for note-taking.\nMasking: Masks are highly encouraged. Our presenter\, James Murphy will not be masked while presenting\, though he will be physically distanced from the group. When speaking one-on-one with participants\, he will be masked. DESCRIPTION:EDSD Racial Justice Task Force will honor & celebrate AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) Month through facilitated discussion and clip viewing of the 5-part PBS series: Asian Americans. Told through individual lives and personal histories\, the series explores the impact of Asian Americans on the US’s past\, present and future. \nMeetings are on Tuesdays in May: 5/3\, 5/10\, 5/14\, 5/21\, 5/31\, 2022\, 6:30 – 7:45 p.m. via Zoom.\nPlease note: It is only necessary to register for one of the dates to be included on the list for all sessions. No need to register for more than one session to ensure you will receive email notifications with the Zoom link before each session. \nPrior viewing of the entire weekly episode is suggested/recommended. Clips* can be viewed for free.
