DESCRIPTION:The EDSD Gun Safety Working Group is recruiting Diocesan parishioners to participate in the San Diego 11th Annual Sandy Hook Vigil for Victims of Gun Violence. This year’s vigil is being held at Mission Hills United Methodist Church\, 4044 Lark St.\, San Diego\, CA 92103\, on Saturday\, December 9th\, at 4:30-5:45 pm.  Please join members of the EDSD Gun Safety Working Group\, fellow parishioners\, and community partners to show-up for gun violence prevention and remember the children and educators who died on December 14\, 2012\, at Sandy Hook Elementary\, in Newtown\, Connecticut\, and the thousands more who have lost their lives to senseless gun violence since.  This year’s event will feature youth voices\, music and hope for change.  Please contact Paul Conry at paul.j.conry@gmail.com or 808-927-4157 with any questions.

Children will be staying in Blum lodge\, eating delicious Camp Stevens food\, making new friends\, and growing in faith and love.   \nTogether we will Listen for God as we hike\, roast s’mores\, play games\, and laugh with new friends. Maybe there will even be SNOW!  \nRegistration includes two nights of accommodations at Camp Stevens\, five delicious Camp Stevens meals\, campfires\, games\, activities\, and more!   \n* Cell phones and other electronic devices are prohibited.  \nPayment is due at time of registration. The full cost for each participant in this program is $225 per person. The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego has planned to cover $50 per student. DESCRIPTION:The annual EDSD Lent youth retreat is going on a pilgrimage this year! Vans will load in various areas of San Diego on Saturday morning to begin the pilgrimage. The trip will include visits to St. Margaret’s\, and an overnight at St. John’s\, Indio. There will be a service project\, a hike\, deep spiritual reflection\, and so much more. Together we will explore the last piece of Micah 6:8\, considering how we are called to Walk Humbly with God. It is truly an amazing and moving ministry to witness. \nWalk the Via Dolorosa — The Way of Tears: The Rev. Dr. Caroline Hall will present the unique and wonderful Stations of the Cross at Saint Benedict’s in Los Osos\, CA in the Diocese of El Camino Real. The Via Dolorosa is a processional route in the Old City of Jerusalem. We will follow the story of Jesus’ journey to the cross and beyond. The Stations of the Cross were made by a local artist. \n

DESCRIPTION:Knowing Yourself: Ministry from a place of self-awareness– This new workshop premiered at Leadership Academy. Knowing Yourself is designed to equip individuals to better see their differences and divergences as strengths to be utilized in living into their unique calling as a part of the Body of Christ. Attendees will better understand their blind spots and name identities that no longer serve them while reclaiming aspects that are most authentic and beloved. Knowing Yourself utilizes the sociological concept of “social location” to expand the lens through which we see Christ in the world and each other. \nFacilitated by Rachel Ambasing and Charlette Preslar\, Knowing Yourself: Ministry from a place of self-awareness will enhance the ministry of both lay and ordained participants.
