DESCRIPTION:August 7\, 8\, 9\, 2025\nSt. James by the Sea\nCost: $100 EDSD / $355 outside of EDSD \nIf you have been seeking a circle of practitioners with whom you might deepen your Godly Play practice\, tend to your own spiritual life\, and find fresh ways to kindle Godly Play in your context\, welcome! Designed for Godly Players with a minimum of one completed Core Training\, and three years of Godly Play experience “under their belt\,” this 3-day retreat may be just what you have been hoping for. Certified Godly Play Trainers Jana Sundin and Charlette Preslar will guide this circle and encourage discovery learning through story\, preparatory reading\, small group dialogue\, and playful wonder. Whether you are an engaged volunteer\, a guiding clergyperson\, or a program leader\, you will leave renewed and able to draw on your deeper understanding of Godly Play to benefit your Godly Play circle and beyond. \nPrerequisites: \n\n3 years of Godly Play practice with a working knowledge of the core stories and the spiral curriculum.\nPrevious completion of one Godly Play Core training with a licensed trainer.\nEngage with two guiding texts (Teaching Godly Play by Jerome Berryman and Godly Play in Middle and Late Childhood by Cheryl Minor) as well as other pertinent writings.\nComplete the case study which will be emailed to you before July 10.\n\nThe training will take place over three days:\nAugust 7 – 3:00 – 9:00 PM\nAugust 8 – 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM\nAugust 9 – 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM \nAdvanced Training is a first-time offering for our diocese. It is designed to not simply share new information\, but to help participants learn to think critically about the work they are doing so they can improve skills. SUMMARY:Lay Catechist Training 2025-2026
DESCRIPTION:A Catechist is a lay person authorized to prepare persons for Baptism\, Confirmation\, Reception\, and the Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows. They function under the direction of the Member of the Clergy or other leader exercising oversight of the congregation or other community of faith. Their work is deeply important in expanding discipleship within a congregation. \nThe course is designed to not just cover faith formation for children\, youth\, and adults\, but also invites participants to consider\, “What does it look like to offer congregational formation?” Throughout the course we will evaluate and adapt curriculum that is already available to meet their contexts. By course end\, each participant will have designed a program that they will offer to the congregation in the year ahead. \nEach meeting will be held at 6:00 PM on the 4th Monday of the month on Zoom. Below are the dates and subjects for each class. Applicants must attend all six sessions and complete a project to be licensed. Applications will close July 18\, 2025. The six sessions include: \n\nAugust 25\, 2025\, 6:00 PM – Faith Formation for Children & Youth\nSeptember 22\, 2025\, 6:00 PM – Faith Formation with Adults\nOctober 27\, 2025\, 6:00 PM – Formation in Congregational Life\nNovember 24\, 2025\, 6:00 PM – Curriculum Review and Development\nJanuary 26\, 2026\, 6:00 PM – Baptism and Confirmation\nFebruary  23\, 2026\, 6:00 PM – Project Review and Presentation\n\nIn addition to registering for the course\, applicants also need a Lay License Nomination form completed by the priest in charge at their congregation.
