Tickets are available for purchase in the button below. \nProceeds will benefit the orphaned and migrant children being served through the Vida Joven Foundation. This organization exists to love\, protect\, and educate orphaned and migrant children in Tijuana and Ensenada\, Mexico. Vida Joven is a ministry of our Episcopal Diocese and is a longtime friend and outreach partner of Christ Church. \nThere are currently 87 children in the orphanages. This could grow to 100 by the end of the year. The average total cost of meals to support 87 children is approximately $3\,000 per month. With the proceeds from the dinner and your donation\, we have set a goal to support two months’ worth of meals . . . $6\,000! DESCRIPTION:The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego is pleased to offer a Godly Play Core Training Retreat on July 12-14\, 2024. Summer is the perfect time to plan and prepare to welcome families in the Fall. This retreat will allow congregations the opportunity to refresh their training and to bring new storytellers and door holders into the fold. \nThroughout the retreat\, participants will experience all aspects of the Godly Play method and begin to become fluent in the Godly Play core stories and fundamental practices. Additionally\, Godly Play’s guiding Theology of Childhood is introduced\, so participants become more deeply connected to their work. The circle of participants becomes very strong and trustworthy when this work is done in the closed environment of a several-day retreat\, and participants enjoy spiritual renewal and lasting friendships. \nOver the last several years\, we have had participants from across the diocese. This year\, we are hoping to further expand the circle and the connections that come from doing this deep work together. \nGodly Play Core Training is $75 for members of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego\, and $355 for those outside of our diocese. \nThe times for each training day are below. They will meet youth from the Anglican Diocese of Western Mexico. The Community of Light is a partnership between the two dioceses and will be a shelter for women and children building a life in Tijuana after being unable to cross into the United States of America. Youth on this trip will build relationships with the youth from Western Mexico\, learn about the culture in Mexico\, work on service projects for the shelter\, and deepen their faith through learning\, serving\, and worship.\n \nApplications are open through May 20\, 2024. There are 15 spots for this year’s trip. The cost of the trip is $500. If a student is selected for the delegation\, they will secure their spot by making a $50 deposit. We will fundraise in community to make the trip possible for every student who wants to go. Students who participate in the fundraisers are eligible for a share of the funds raised. SUMMARY:Lay Catechist Training Registration
DESCRIPTION:A Catechist is a lay person authorized to prepare persons for Baptism\, Confirmation\, Reception\, and the Reaffirmation of Baptismal Vows. They function under the direction of the Member of the Clergy or other leader exercising oversight of the congregation or other community of faith. Their work is deeply important in expanding discipleship within a congregation. \nThe course is designed to not just cover faith formation for children\, youth\, and adults\, but also invites participants to consider\, “What does it look like to offer congregational formation?” Throughout the course we will evaluate and adapt curriculum that is already available to meet their contexts. By course end\, each participant will have designed a program that they will offer to the congregation in the year ahead. \nApplicants for a catechist license must attend a six-session training course. Each meeting will be held at 6:00 PM on the 4th Tuesday of the month on Zoom. Below are the dates and subjects for each class. Applicants must attend all six sessions and complete a project to be licensed. Applications will close in July.
