SUMMARY:St. Andrew's Organ Dedication Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join us at 4 pm on Sunday\, May 18th\, as St. Andrew’s dedicates our new Allan GX350 Organ with a free concert featuring internationally acclaimed organist\, Jonas Nordwall. \nOur Allen GX350 Organ was custom-designed to incorporate the 31-rank Simpson Pipes from the original organ in St. Andrew’s. In addition\, the GX350 adds 66 Digital Stops along with Allen Organ’s APEX floating point technology which is just a fancy way to say this organ is not only unique\, but also sounds amazing! \nThe concert features organist Jonas Nordwall\, an internationally renowned virtuoso organist equally skilled in both traditional classical and modern/popular schools of musical performance. He has performed in North America\, Japan\, Europe\, and China and has made eight concert tours to Australia. Nordwall is the only organist to play a public recital on the famous concert organ in Sydney’s Town Hall that was nationally broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Company. He has been an adjudicator and guest recitalist for the Swiss International Organ Competition in Geneva\, Switzerland. Nordwall has also performed numerous programs on the Spreckels organ in San Diego’s Balboa Park as part of their International Artist Series. \nThe concert will be followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. St. Andrew’s is located at 4816 Glen Street in La Mesa.

SUMMARY:Godly Play Core Training
DESCRIPTION:The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego is pleased to offer a Godly Play Core Training Retreat on May 30\, 31\, and June 1\, 2025 at Christ Church Coronado. This retreat will allow congregations the opportunity to refresh their training and to bring new storytellers and door holders into the fold as they complete their program year and look forward toward Fall. \nThroughout the retreat\, participants will experience all aspects of the Godly Play method and begin to become fluent in the Godly Play core stories and fundamental practices. Additionally\, Godly Play’s guiding Theology of Childhood is introduced\, so participants become more deeply connected to their work. The circle of participants becomes very strong and trustworthy when this work is done in the closed environment of a several-day retreat\, and participants enjoy spiritual renewal and lasting friendships. \nOver the last several years\, we have had participants from across the diocese. This year\, we are hoping to further expand the circle and the connections that come from doing this deep work together. \nGodly Play Core Training is $75 for members of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego\, and $355 for those outside of our diocese. \nThe times for each training day are below.\nYou must attend all three days of the training in order to receive a certificate of completion.\n– Friday\, May 30\, 3 PM – 9 PM\n– Saturday\, May 31\, 9 AM – 5:30 PM\n– Sunday\, June 1\, 12 PM – 5:30 PM \nREGISTRATION IS FULL FOR THIS TRAINING.

SUMMARY:A Special Movie Event – A Case for Love\, Pt. 1
DESCRIPTION:You’re Invited: A Special Movie Event – A Case for Love \nIn a time when our world feels increasingly divided\, A Case for Love invites us to explore a powerful question: Can unselfish love heal what divides us? \nInspired by Bishop Michael Curry—known for his moving sermon on “The Power of Love” at the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle—this documentary journeys across the U.S.\, uncovering stories of everyday people living selflessly. Through heartfelt interviews with individuals\, public figures like Pete Buttigieg\, Al Roker\, and Sam Waterston\, and reflections from Bishop Curry himself\, the film explores love in action across topics like racial justice\, military service\, foster care\, food insecurity\, and more. \nDirector Brian Ide shares that the film was born from a personal calling to respond to the growing disunity in our culture. With Bishop Curry’s words as a guide— “When love is the way… there’s plenty of room for all of God’s children”—the documentary invites us all to reflect: Is unselfish love truly the antidote we’ve been searching for? \nWe’ll be watching the film in three segments\, giving space for reflection\, discussion\, and connection. Your presence is welcome and meaningful\, whether you can attend one session or all three. Each session stands on its own\, so you won’t miss out if life gets in the way one week! \nMovie Schedule (2:00 – 3:30 PM):\n– Part 1: Saturday\, May 31\n– Part 2: Saturday\, June 14\n– Part 3: Saturday\, June 21 \nEach session begins in the church sanctuary for the film viewing\, followed by refreshments and group discussion in the Parish Hall. \nLocation: All Saints Episcopal Church\n651 Eucalyptus Ave.\nVista\, CA 92084 \nRSVP helpful but not required: office@allsaintsvista.org  \n“If it’s not about love\, it’s not about God.” -Bishop Michael Curry \n“And now these three remain: faith\, hope\, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” -1 Corinthians 13:13 \nCome for the message. Come for the fellowship. Come for the love.\nLet’s explore together what it means to live a life guided by grace and goodness.

SUMMARY:The Light Up the Cathedral
DESCRIPTION:The Light Up the Cathedral Service has its roots in outreach\, but it has become a beacon of hope\, love\, and interfaith inclusivity. This year\, you can join the LGBTQ+ community and faith leaders from throughout San Diego on July 16th at 7pm for Light Up the Cathedral and begin your Pride week in worship and love. \nTen years ago\, the newly arrived Dean Penny Bridges had a vision for the Cathedral community that was a unique approach for outreach to the LGBTQ community during Pride week in San Diego. The Pride Parade ends directly across the street from our church\, and the two-day festival takes place only two blocks away. Dean Penny believed lighting the Cathedral edifice in rainbow colors would make a statement to the thousands of people who pass by our location during the week. \nNo RSVP necessary.  Please arrive early as this event reaches capacity.

SUMMARY:LARK October 2025
DESCRIPTION:LARK (Localized Anti-Racism Knowledge) began as a challenge from Bishop Susan Brown Snook. In February 2022 she asked the Racial Justice and Reconciliation Task Force (RJRTF) to develop a localized anti-racism workshop. Since anti-racism trainings are usually designed in other regions of the country\, they reflect their populations and histories. Our area has its own history\, issues\, and stories. LARK focuses on our local history and populations and deals with local issues and stories. Attendees will walk away with a better understanding of the local context in which we minister\, and begin to nurture the relationships and resilience necessary for advancing racial reconciliation and justice within our diocese. \nThe LARK workshop consists of the following major components: \n\nTruth telling of the local history of People of Color by way of an overview of the major racial/ethnic groups in our diocesan region.\nCase study of multi-faceted local issues by way of videos and discussion.\nIn-depth analysis and discussion of articles & videos regarding various local ongoing instances of racism.\nCommitment to engagement: Personal Plan of Action for each participant\, i.e.\, a commitment to specific follow-up actions and the choosing of a small group team for accountability.\nZoom meeting* to be scheduled approximately 4 weeks after the in-person workshop. The date and time will be announced closer to the workshop date. At this meeting\, participants will:\n\nreflect on their learning\nreport on any post-workshop activity\nfind the next steps for their continued journey\n*Participants who are unable to attend this meeting can be given an alternate way of fulfilling this requirement upon request.\n\n\n\nThe purpose of this workshop is not simply to transmit information\, but to engage participants in a collective process of discovery. The progression of the workshop is scaffolded\, with the earlier activities creating a foundation for the later experiences. Full participation from beginning to end is assumed. \nParticipants must complete all components in order to become a LARK alumnus and fulfill diocesan anti-racism training requirements. \nLARK is one part of a lifelong journey for racial reconciliation and racial justice. Whether you are a novice or veteran in the areas of racial justice and reconciliation\, this LARK workshop is for you! All are encouraged to attend\, and all are welcome. \n\nWhen: Friday\, Oct. 17\, 3:30-8:30 PM & Saturday\, Oct. 18\, 9:30-4:30 PM\, with a follow-up Zoom meeting TBD.\nWhere: Trinity Episcopal Church\, 845 Chestnut St\, Escondido\, CA 92025\nSign Up Deadline: Thursday Oct. 9\, or when registration is full. The workshop is open to a maximum of 30 attendees.\n\nClick HERE to Register
