DESCRIPTION:When: January 20\, 2024\, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM\nWhere: The Episcopal Church Center & Resurrection Episcopal Church \nYou are invited to gather with new and seasoned leaders from across our diocese as we spend a day learning skills to enrich our congregations and our lives. The day will include opportunities to: \n\nDeepen connections as we learn to navigate conversations across difference and manage conflict in healthy ways.\nEngage in the sacred art of storytelling in a digital age with a focus on social media engagement that works and well-structured websites.\nExplore ways to support and develop young adult ministry in a variety of contexts.\nTransform the good work of our committees into ministries that help members to grow in faith and love.\nEnliven our ministry with the treasured seniors who are in our pews and beyond our doors.\n\nRegistration for Leadership Academy is now full. \n \nWORK SHOP DESCRIPTIONS \nFOUNDATIONS \n\nKnowing Yourself: Ministry from a place of self-awareness– This new training will premiere at Leadership Academy. It is designed to equip individuals to better see their differences and divergences as strengths to be utilized to live into their unique calling as a part of the Body of Christ. Attendees will better understand their blind spots and name presumptions that no longer serve while reclaiming aspects that are most authentic and beloved\, and having an opportunity to expand the lens through which they see Christ in the world and each other.\nSimple and Creative: Bible Studies that deepen discipleship – The study of Scripture enriches all aspects of the life of the church and the individual.\nListening for God’s Call: Ministry of All the Baptized – Ministers of the church are lay people\, Bishops\, Priests\, and Deacons. This workshop explores the ministry of the Laity in a variety of contexts.\n\nSTORYTELLING \n\nDigital Evangelism: How congregations share the Good News with the digital world – A panel of presenters discusses engagement through Social Media\, websites\, and storytelling.\nConversing Across Difference – Creating space for challenging community conversations and conflict resolution\, panelists from various contexts offer concrete examples of successful practices in their communities.\nFrom Committee to Ministry: Small groups in word and deed – How would the work of the committees in your congregation be changed by fully embracing their role as ministry? How does prayer and practice support each member in their role? How would engagement change if current members and new people felt the support of a faithful small group dynamic? Explore how this has worked in three congregations and consider the implications for your own.\n\nGROWTH \n\nMinistry with Seniors – Enriching the faith lives of the people already in your pews.\nEmerging Communities – Hear stories from three EDSD emerging communities and work in small groups to explore God’s Call in your context.\nEngaging Young Adults Beyond Campus Ministry – Explore how you create space for deep connection and mutual respect in your congregation.
