Stewardship
As Christians, we believe that all that we are and all that we have are gifts from God. Nothing we possess exists solely because of our efforts. Grace pervades our entire existence and that which we may claim as our own first comes to us as blessing. In response to this divine graciousness, we give to others.
Virtually all Episcopal churches host an annual stewardship campaign. This refers to an appeal for pledges of financial support. Typically undertaken in the fall, these contributions provide the material resources necessary for the Episcopal Church to do its collective Christian ministry on local, diocesan and national levels.
When we gather pledges, it is easy to think that our personal practice of stewardship is done for another year. However, when we recognize the full import of our call to be good stewards, we realize that we have just begun.
